My client is seeking a skilled and motivated Acoustic Consultant to join their dynamic team in Washington DC. As an Acoustic Consultant, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice and solutions to clients across various industries, helping them optimize acoustic environments and address noise-related challenges. Your expertise will be essential in designing, assessing, and implementing acoustic solutions that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
Acoustic Assessments: Conduct thorough acoustic assessments and measurements to identify noise sources, sound propagation, and environmental factors impacting the acoustic quality of indoor and outdoor spaces.
Project Planning: Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to integrate acoustic considerations into building designs and construction plans for new projects or renovations.
Noise Control Solutions: Develop innovative and effective noise control strategies, recommending appropriate materials, acoustic treatments, and design modifications to minimize noise pollution and improve sound quality.
Environmental Impact Studies: Participate in environmental impact studies related to noise pollution, providing valuable insights and data analysis to support regulatory compliance and decision-making.
Building Code Compliance: Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal acoustic regulations, codes, and standards, and advise clients on the necessary steps to meet these requirements.
Acoustic Modeling and Simulation: Utilize advanced acoustic modeling and simulation software to predict sound behavior and evaluate the effectiveness of proposed acoustic solutions.
Client Engagement: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their unique acoustic needs, and providing expert recommendations to enhance their acoustic environments.
Noise Monitoring: Set up and operate noise monitoring equipment during construction or events to assess noise levels and compliance with project specifications.
Report Preparation: Prepare clear and concise technical reports detailing acoustic findings, solutions, and recommendations, tailored to the specific needs of clients and stakeholders.
Research and Professional Development: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in acoustic science through continuous learning and participation in professional development opportunities.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Acoustical Engineering, Physics, Architectural Acoustics, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of practical experience in acoustic consulting or a related role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in acoustic measurement equipment, modeling software (e.g., SoundPLAN, CadnaA), and data analysis tools. Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) is a plus.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of acoustic principles, noise control techniques, and relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ANSI, ISO, NEPA).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex acoustic concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset and the ability to identify acoustic challenges, propose innovative solutions, and adapt strategies as needed.
