The Data Center industry has seen exponential growth in recent years, putting pressure on businesses to keep up with demand, with competition between employers high.
Hyper-scale or Enterprise Data Centers are still booming, as the world moves more and more online. Gaming websites, social networks and live streaming all generate a huge amount of data. However, the Edge Data Center market, small data centers located close to a network, is expected to value$50 billion USD by 2032. The drive towards smaller Data Centres could positively impact the environment, as they generate smaller footprints. Data Centers expect to see increasing regulation in the near future, especially as the industry tackles rising energy and water consumption.
Industry experts have to grapple with the need for more Data Centers and more power, but also balance that with the requirement to be as emission-free as possible. More customers also want to be able to publicly claim that energy consumed is renewable.
Microsoft opening its Datacenter Academy in Singapore, its first academy in Asia, is a sign that there is a huge need to develop skills and talent to the IT industry. Innovation in the Data Center sector is therefore critical to its future, and that won’t happen without top talent continuously joining the industry.
